Here's Flip's short interview with Sankara.

How did you discover your passion for travelling?

"It started at a very young age when my family inculcated the values and virtues of responsible traveling. As I got older, the zeal to explore has just gotten stronger to the extent that I breath and think travel every moment."

What’s the most horrible experience that you’ve had on the road?

"When I was traveling around India on my motorcycle and met with a head-on collision enroute to Bhutan and ended up having 2 back-to-back surgeries."

What’s the best travel experience that you’ve ever had?

"It is hard to pick and choose. Travel in itself is the best experience and each one is unique in its own way. But, if I were asked my best travel achievement, then I would say traveling alone across the entire country of India on my motorcycle."

What’s the biggest realization that you’ve got out of travelling?

"It is a very rich, beautiful, diverse and complex world out there. Every place and every day of your travels can give you an everlasting high."

What keeps you going? What keeps you motivated?

"The urge to explore and the rich experience that the journey provides is what keeps me going."

This is a silly and hypothetical one. If you would be given a chance to travel with a popular person or a celebrity, who would it be and why?

"It sure would be interesting to travel with a celebrity, though I have never given this much thought and hence have no particular choices."

Where’s your favourite place in this planet and why?

"Till date, my travels have been limited to a few countries. Hence, based on experience I would say that India is my most favourite place as it is one magical package all rolled into one. But, on the other hand, I have always been enthralled by the life in Antartica. Would love to spend a year with the penguins out there."

What do you think about yourself?

"I am your simple traveller who derives more pleasure in the journey than the destination. But, folks who have travelled with me have other ways and phrases to describe me. Hence, I think it would be apt if others answered this question as they would probably give the best answers."

"BE ON THE ROAD is my travel and photography portfolio. It is my humble attempt at sharing my travel experiences and world travel photos with the global traveller." - Sankara
