Happy 1st Birthday Flipnomad

Exactly one year ago, I was a bummer who just got back from a six month backpacking trip across, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Nepal and India. I wasn’t planning to go back yet but because of the death of my beloved Grandma last September 2009, I’ve decided to come back home.
I’m a broke, penniless and disoriented person since I came back and the only thing that I can think of is how to go back on the road. I started scouring the internet on how to travel for free or how to travel without a job or how to earn money without a job.

Luckily, I came across numerous blogs that talk about alternative sources of income, cheap travelling, and lifestyle redesign. I thought, if I they could do it, maybe I can too.

And that was October 25, 2009, when the idea to become a blogger was born. It was the day when flipnomad, out of the countless names that I’ve thought about just popped into my head.

And a year forward, Flip is still up and running, continuously sharing some of his stories, some travel tips and tricks and sharing some stories of other great travellers too.

2. Blogging?!? is the first article I've written

3. Robbert, my Dutch room mate in Kathmandu gave the first comment in my blog, Where are the Pinoy   Backpackers? Thanks Bro!!!

4. Nina of Justwandering is the first blogger who left a comment in my blog, just right after Robbert. Thanks Nina!!! :-)

5. Gaye of Pinay Travel Junkie is the first blogger that I kept on bothering about my blog and the first person I told about my own domain (even if I dont personally know her). Thanks Gaye!!!

6. Ron Cruz of FlipTravels is the first Filipino that I've featured in Meet the Nomads. Thanks Ron!!!

7. How to Find the Cheapest Airfare is the first travel Tip that I shared in flipnomad.com

8. The Philippine's Hidden Gem is the first contributed article written by Lagaw Thanks!!!

9. Why You Should Explore the Philippines is my first campaign to invite tourists to visit the Philippines

10. Do You Believe in Horoscope? is probably the first (or maybe not) stupid post I've ever written, it's followed by a more stupid post Do Traveller's Need a Financial Goal? Thanks Anil for still leaving a comment despite of my horrendous writing.

For those who are new to my site, welcome and feel free to read about me and my past musings by checking out the archive. If you wanna read about my previous slumbook style interviews with great travellers, please check out Meet the Nomads.

And before I end this post, a big big thanks to everyone who have read, shared, commented on my posts. Big thanks to everyone who have linked me up even when I was just a newbie in the blogging world.

Big thanks also to my non-blogging friends who supported my blog right from the start. Thanks for continuously listening and thanks for all the inputs. And more than anything else, thanks for believing in what I can do.
